CANAMAN, CAMARINES SUR – Denise Karla Baduria, a 17-year-old, BS Accountancy student in Ateneo de Naga University was recently named Miss Canaman 2017 at the Coronation Night held at Canaman People’s Center last August 13.

Baduria represents Barangay Haring and recently won the title of Miss Haring 2017.

During the final question and answer portion, Baduria was asked: What advocacy, as Miss Canaman will you push for to empower women’s rights?

Confidently responding to the question, the beauty queen replied: “As Miss Canaman, I would fight for a women’s right over her own body, also known as Bodily Autonomy. Women should be allowed to wear what they feel best represent their identity and they should not be discriminated for it. Fighting for rights starts when a woman is accepted for who she is.”

Krystel Sales was named 1st runner-up. She represents Barangay Dinaga.

Divine May Abigail Plaza of Barangay Poro finished 2nd runner-up. She was also named Miss Ponds, Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown.

The other Special Awards were handed out to the following:

Best in Production Number: Miriam Carmel Gonzales

Miss Canaman beauty pageant was one of the activities in the 434th Foundation Anniversary and Town Fiesta Celebration of the Municipality of Canaman.
